The Old Library - Historic, Versatile and Visually Stunning -

The Old Library is a unique and historic venue situated in the heart of Digbeth, Birmingham’s creative quarter. This much loved venue offers a combination of character, space and first-class facilities.

Flooded with daylight and with soaring vaulted ceilings, breath-taking original windows, the Old Library’s blend of functional, open-plan space and Victorian Gothic elegance will enhance the atmosphere of any event and make a mark with guests and delegates.

The architecturally stunning building was built in 1866 as one of Birmingham’s first free libraries and has been faithfully restored under the watchful eye of English Heritage to create an exciting and versatile venue for an array of events, including Wedding Receptions, Conferences, Seminars, Exhibitions, Award Ceremonies and Private Parties.

The Old Library can accommodate up to 150 people for banquets and conferences, and up to 300 for a drinks reception.

The Old Library is ideally situated in the heart of the acclaimed arts and media quarter, the Custard Factory, a hub of creative enterprises, unique independent retail outlets and artists.

Located just ¼ mile from Birmingham City Centre, the venue is a short walk or cab ride from main line train stations and local amenities.

  • "Private Party  I held my husband’s surprise 50th birthday party at the Old Library recently and it was a truly memorable night. The unique venue enhanced the surprise element of the party, my husband was thrilled when he realised what was going on when he walked into the party. All of our guests were blown away by the Old Library and were in awe of the stunning architecture of the building. It was the perfect setting for his big day. I was very confident that the party would run smoothly as the events team were highly professional and efficient in dealing with my requirements – from the catering through to the DJ. All of the guests commented on what a good night they had and said how friendly the staff were throughout the night."

  • "We held a meeting at the Old Library and we were very happy with our experience! All communication regarding our booking and varied requirements for the meeting were dealt with very professionally and quickly. No need was too much for the events team and all of our needs were met with enthusiasm and efficiency. The catering was delivered on time and was suited to various dietary needs within our team, coffee and tea were readily available, and the facilities offered were of a high standard and helped to enhance our meeting. The venue was a fantastic place to host the meeting and we will definitely be returning in the future."

  • "With its stunning architecture and versatile space, the Old Library was an ideal choice for our conference. The unique backdrop along with the excellent conferencing technology meant that the conference was not only a huge success but also memorable. People are still talking about how fantastic and unique the venue was. As the Old Library is located just a few minutes out of Birmingham city centre, our delegates were able to travel to and from the venue with ease. The staff at the Old Library were beyond helpful, from making the booking through to ensuring the conference ran smoothly. I would recommend the Old Library to anyone looking to host a corporate event in Birmingham"
